Flanders Innovation

Does your company have a chance of receiving 3 million euros?

The Flemish government pays up to 3 million euros to companies that transform. But how do you find out if your company can make use of this? In any case, the government is putting a lot of emphasis on innovation these days. The question then remains whether the investment or training project that you have in the pipeline is innovative enough. In the following, we outline the substantive questions to which your transformation plan must respond in order to be eligible for support. In case of doubt, it is advisable to contact us; we will then determine, without obligation, together with you whether you stand a chance here.

The transformation plan that you must draw up describes the key points and milestones of the innovative project and is assessed by the government at five levels:

- the innovative character of the project;

- internationalisation;

- sustainability;

- the impact of the project on (the operation of) the enterprise;

- the impact of the project on the Flemish economy.

When handling a dossier, the first level is examined first and foremost. If the basic score is not achieved, the negative decision is immediately communicated to the company. If the basic score is achieved on this level, the other levels are also assessed. If the basic score is also awarded for the other parameters, the subsidy application is approved.

If you are an SME, investments must be made in a 'new product, service or process or technology(s) that has/have not yet been introduced to the sector in Flanders' in order to achieve the basic score for the innovation parameter.

Our experience shows that it is often the parameter 'innovation' that throws a spanner in the works. If the score for innovation is good, the dossier often becomes very feasible.

Below you will find an overview of the basic score to be obtained per parameter for SMEs. If you have any questions about this assessment framework, or if you wish to briefly test the content of your project against these criteria, do not hesitate to contact us using the button at the bottom of this page.
